Goals and focus for Product Owner
As a Product Owner, you play a pivotal role in any agile scrum team. Your mission is clear: act as the bridge between the customer and the development team. You manage the product backlog, set priorities, and ensure the team delivers maximum value through its work. Together with the Business Analyst, you bring clarity, focus, and purpose to every sprint.
What You’ll Do
- Ability to create understandable backlog items (epics/features/user stories) that guide the Agile software development team.
- Take ownership of digital product progression with decisive leadership.
- Be the voice of the client through excellent stakeholder management.
- Collaborate with customers to align product roadmaps with strategic goals.
- Solve product-related challenges, balancing trade-offs to meet business commitments.
- Ensure seamless end-to-end customer experience integration.
- Prioritize features and initiatives to maximize product value in line with strategy.
- Help clients understand business models, value, and propositions.
- Stay informed on Agile practices, Scrum methodology, and emerging trends.
What You Bring
- 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Strong understanding of business contexts, stakeholders, and requirements analysis.
- Big-picture thinking, paired with clear communication to the team.
- Proactive, persuasive, and supportive in guiding clients and teams.
- Skilled at analyzing data, processes, and creating structured documentation.
- This role requires speaking Dutch fluently
The Role in Relation to the Team
Business Analyst
You provide the Business Analyst with a clear and comprehensive description of the situation requiring analysis. They can count on your availability for communication and your network of contacts to support their research. Together, you divide the task of writing User Stories to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Architect
The Architect knows they can depend on you to bring forward issues related to software architecture. You seek their expertise when making decisions or seeking advice, fostering a collaborative and informed approach.
Developer
Developers trust you to maintain a prioritized backlog filled with User Stories that meet the Definition of Ready. They benefit from the broader perspective you provide through a well-maintained and transparent roadmap.
UX Designer
You respect the UX designer’s expertise in leading customer journey research and interface design. At Product League, UX plays a critical role, and you ensure they have the space to validate and create user-centric designs.
Test Engineer
Test Engineers rely on you to deliver testable User Stories. You actively involve them in Refinement sessions to refine acceptance criteria and ensure quality. By maintaining clear and widely understood Definitions of Ready and Done, you make their job smoother and more efficient.
