About ISS World
ISS World is one of the world's leading facility services companies, operating across cleaning, catering, security, and property services. With operations spanning dozens of countries and complex back-end systems supporting those services, reliable and secure data exchange between systems is business-critical.
The challenge
ISS World relied on IBM WebMethods Integration as the backbone of their system integrations. When IBM announced the deprecation of this technology, ISS World faced a hard deadline: migrate all integrations or risk losing the data connections that kept their operations running smoothly.
The stakes were high. With 6+ active integrations in scope, covering core back-end systems and data flows, any delay or disruption would directly impact operations. A solid migration plan, a reliable technology partner, and a future-proof platform were needed, fast.
The result
All 6+ integrations were successfully migrated before the IBM webMethods Integration deprecation date. ISS World experienced zero downtime during the cutover, and the new integration layer delivered immediate improvements over the legacy setup:
- Faster data exchange between systems
- Centralised monitoring and error visibility
- Easier onboarding of future integrations
- Full auditability of data flows across the platform
What started as a forced migration became an opportunity to modernise. ISS World now operates on a scalable, maintainable integration foundation. Ready to grow as their systems evolve.
Solution
Product League supported ISS World through the full migration journey, from planning to delivery. We introduced Alumio as the integration platform of choice, a cloud-native, low-code iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) that allows organisations to connect applications, systems, and data sources without heavyweight custom development.
Together, we:
- Mapped and prioritised all existing IBM webMethods integrations to ensure nothing was missed
- Defined a realistic migration timeline that aligned with the IBM deprecation deadline
- Developed all integrations within Alumio, replicating existing functionality
- Ensured secure data transfer across all connected back-end systems, in line with enterprise security standards
- Supported governance and monitoring using Alumio's built-in logging, error handling, and alert capabilities
Alumio's low-code interface meant integrations could be built, tested, and adjusted rapidly, a critical factor given the time pressure. Its visual route builder and reusable configuration components reduced development effort while keeping the architecture clean and maintainable.
Why Alumio, and Why It Was the Right Call Here
Alumio is a cloud-native, low-code iPaaS built for enterprise environments. But the platform choice matters less than the reasoning behind it. For ISS World, three factors made Alumio the right fit:
- Deadline-driven delivery: Alumio’s visual route builder and reusable configuration components allowed the team to build and test integrations significantly faster than a code-first approach would have permitted under the same timeline
- Enterprise governance without enterprise overhead: Built-in logging, alerting, error handling, and GDPR-compliant data handling gave ISS World the compliance and observability requirements they needed without custom instrumentation work
- Sustainable maintainability: Unlike bespoke middleware, Alumio routes are readable and adjustable by any engineer familiar with the platform, reducing the long-term dependency on the original delivery team
For organisations facing integration complexity, whether migrating from legacy systems or scaling a growing digital landscape, the right iPaaS decision depends on timeline, governance requirements, and total cost of ownership over three-plus years. Alumio consistently performs well on all three for mid-to-large enterprise environments.
