Matching ripening and demand
The fruit is not
yet ready-to-eat when it arrives at the warehouse. There, the fruit
ripens. To prevent product waste and to plan shipping, it is necessary
matching this ripening process with sales demand. Including having the
option to intervene in the planning process. For example, being able to
change varieties, sizes, and pre-producing on certain days of the week.
The goal? Maximizing shelf life and making sure the consumer receives
fruit of the highest quality.
Smooth planning processes
The project team
collected information on the current processes from buyers, planners,
ripening experts and sales. After that, they created a flow that tied
these processes together. The planning process now starts with accurate
forecasts and sales demands. Combined with the actual stock and the
parameters for the ripening processes, Nature’s Pride can now generate a
planning for sales and incoming products. Daily up to three weeks
ahead, and weekly up to thirteen weeks (roughly three months) in
advance.
Reducing product waste
Nature's Pride benefits
from new insights into the incoming quantities, actual demand, and
predictive ripening process implemented into a suite of
business-critical applications. Therefore, the company can guarantee
that the right product will be sent to their customers at the right
time, with the least amount of operational and product waste.
