With 314 stores in the Netherlands, the Dutch supermarket chain Coop wanted to modernize the way stores are currently executing their daily operations. The teams working in the stores were making use of multiple outdated applications gathering information from multiple systems.
Challenge
The most important goal for these store teams is to not waste time on their standard procedures so they can focus on the things that matter most: a tidy store and a satisfied customer.
Their day to day work should be made as easy and efficient as possible, and they should be able to answer customer questions as fast as possible.
Solution
A dedicated scrum team from Product League consisting of a Product Owner, UX/UI designer, and an OutSystems developer created a new Store Operations Application tailored to these needs. An important success factor was the close collaboration they had with a Business Analyst and an SAP/ABAP consultant from Coop. Together they made an unbeatable team with a great combination of multidisciplinary knowledge.
Their agile approach was centered around understanding the daily processes within the store, gathering feedback from the store teams and optimizing after usability tests. With this approach, the team succeeded to start a pilot in the stores with the first version within 3 months.
