STORL (Foundation for the Collection of Residues and Empty Packaging in Horticulture and Agriculture) organises the responsible collection of empty packaging and residues of crop protection products from professional users across the Netherlands. As a collaboration between CropLife, Agrodis, LTO and Cumela, STORL is building a nationwide collection system for growers. With the ambition to grow to 15,000 growers, a reliable and scalable digital platform is a crucial prerequisite.

The challenge
STORL was already working with a number of applications that had previously been developed by another party. The applications were technically unstable and insufficiently aligned with day-to-day operations. This led to manual work, inefficiency, and limited scalability. At STORL's request, Product League took over and improved the existing landscape. With the ambition to grow to 15,000 growers, structural professionalisation was not a choice, it was a requirement.
Our approach
We started with a technical analysis of the full application landscape and realigned architecture, processes, and user flows with operational reality.
The supplier portal was simplified with clear step-by-step flows and a low-threshold registration process. Growers can now create an account faster and immediately make use of the service.
We redesigned processes to increase automation, making the platform more stable and scalable for the future.
The solution & impact
Product League took over STORL's full digital platform and professionalised it from the ground up. After a thorough technical analysis of the three applications, the supplier portal, the back office, and the collector portal, architectural issues, scalability bottlenecks, and process shortcomings were addressed. Built on OutSystems, the team was able to build, test, and iterate quickly without compromising on quality.
The results are felt at every level of the operation. Growers can now create an account more easily and complete a clear step-by-step process without needing support. The back office processes requests largely automatically, significantly reducing manual workload. The matching logic between suppliers and collectors works more accurately, and communication between the portal and back office runs without interruption.
The platform now has over 4,500 active users, and that number is growing. STORL now has a stable, scalable digital foundation ready for nationwide growth towards 15,000 growers.
