As the largest franchise retail chain for gardening products in the Benelux, Intratuin is in the process of modernizing their landscape and infrastructure with the power of the OutSystems platform. In order to organize and scale their future application landscape, one of their key challenges was to overcome the struggles with their current ‘access management process’.
Challenge
Intratuin HQ had year-round requests coming in from store managers to grant their employees access to various internally-used applications. Requesting access permission, was done via forms and Excel sheets, resulting in slow, repetitive and error-sensitive processes. With over 5.000 requests per year that needed to be handled, delays in access permission was hindering store operations. Lack of a common software for Identity Access Management (IAM) also caused overlooking license usage that led to unnecessary costs.
To start modernizing this process, Product League quickly set up a product vision and developed an MVP in just two weeks. Working in an agile manner, a scrum team managed to deliver the first version of the IAM application in three months. This was achieved in close collaboration with a Business Analyst from Intratuin.
Solution
The solution, a web application for the IAM FrontOffice, is now used by the store managers to grant any access to their employees in a matter of seconds. The role-granting for applications that provide an API are automated. For other more outdated applications, the access requests are granted by HQ service desk employees using IAM BackOffice. Store managers and HQ employees can finally see and manage which employees have access to which applications in a fast and centralized manner. This way, they can focus on their day-to-day operations while I&AM leverages automation to provide instant access, minimize costs and reduce the strain on store managers and HQ.
